Mission
The department supports the overall mission of the college by preparing men and women to live according to a biblical world view and to serve through professional Christian ministries related to using the avenue of sports to reach the community for Christ.
Analysis of Evidences
The year was an amazing one for that of the women’s soccer team. They set multiple team and individual records and accomplished multiple “firsts” for the program: NCAA Championship appearance, North Eastern Athletic Conference championship, and NCCAA II East Region championship. An area of continued concern seems to be in the area of missed class time. The lack of lights on the soccer field affects the class time of the players, especially the team that has to play first. (Men and women’s teams flip-flop alternate years as to who will play first in a doubleheader.) Lights will allow our students to stay in class longer, practice at later times (if desired), and discourage the emphasis towards Sunday play by providing a viable alternative to our conference opponents.
On the administration side, the college is on the cusp of hiring its second full-time coach in two years and it is exciting to see the possibility of increasing the platform of impact of the coach to the student-athlete because of more time allotted for such growth of correlating the spiritual with the physical.
